Sustainable management without limits

The Interreg project GRØN.business supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in making their services and processes more sustainable.

Objective

“We mean this in very practical terms: we will compile customized information, offer events and establish contacts to make companies fit to develop sustainable environmental, social and management structures,” explains Dagmar Jensen (photo), who is responsible for the project at Wirtschaftsförderung Nordfriesland (WFG NF).

“The aim of the EU funding measure is to raise awareness among local companies to operate in an environmentally and socially responsible manner, e.g. through the circular economy. We want to show craft businesses and companies in the Danish-German border region that are unable to maintain their own sustainability department steps towards a more sustainable corporate strategy.”

Who would like to become part of the sustainability network?

If you would like to become part of the GRØN.business network, please contact Dagmar Jensen at d.jensen@wfg-nf.de.

At the project’s kick-off event, the team visited the company Meliora Bio in Kalundborg, which produces bioethanol from organically grown wheat, among other things (photo).

GRØN.business is supported with funds from Interreg 6A Deutschland-Danmark. The project will run for three years until April 2026. The lead partner is KielRegion GmbH, project partners are Business Esbjerg, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, Syddansk Universitet (SDU) in Sønderborg and the business development agencies of Kalundborg, Nordfriesland, Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Sorø. In addition, the project partners will work together with organizations such as the district trades associations, business associations and chambers of commerce.

Sustainable products and services in demand

“Customers prefer sustainable products and services. Employees prefer to identify with sustainable companies. And financial service providers will also base their lending on sustainability criteria in the future. Anyone who invests in sustainable corporate management at an early stage is setting up their business for the future,” Dagmar Jensen is convinced.
